A yearly tradition that takes place on campus as well as outside of campus are the various Christmas activities organised by University staff members in order to contribute to a good cause. All donations gathered from the following activities go to L-istrina and id-Dar tal-Providenza.
Cultural visits in aid of L-Istrina & id-Dar tal-Privdenza
During the first week of December, the University of Malta staff attended several cultural visits around Malta as part of the fundraising initiative. These included a visit to the Inquisitor's Palace in Birgu, a visit to Palazzo Falzon Bee Pollinator Haven, a visit to Mdina Cathedral & Neapolitan Crib and a visit to the Banca Giuratalethe & the Cathedral Archives.
Different ways you can donate this Christmas!
During the month of December, the University dedicated specific days for Park & Donate, where anyone who uses the University car park donates a minimum of one Euro. Plant and donate was another initiative to increase your plant count at the office or at home and Poinsettias are for sale and you can get yours at the University Chaplaincy.
An open donation via a text message is also available, by sending a blank SMS to 50617923 until December 23. Three Hamper giveaways are to be won through a Christmas lottery which can be purchased until December 17 from the Chaplaincy, KSU office or at the Centre for Liberal Arts.
On December 14, a wine tasting event was held at the KSU common room where there was a selection of wine combined with a platter. The explanation of different wine types was delivered by Dr Noel Buttigieg, senior Lecturer Institute for Tourism, Travel & Culture. Another interesting initiative was organised by the Institute for Climate change and Sustainable Development, where breakfast was served for students and staff that commute by walk, bus, bicycle or carpooling.
An upcoming event on Friday 17, will be the Christmas concert performed by the Armed Forces Malta at 12:30 pm on the University Quadrangle. To enhance the Christmas food spirit some mince pies and mulled wine will be served whilst connecting with colleagues and friends.
