The University of Malta has opened a University of the Fourth Age centre in Għajnsielem, Gozo, at Dar Padova Activity Centre for Persons Living with Dementia. This centre was launched in collaboration with the Ministry for Active Ageing. This centre was launched in the spirit of the United dictums of 'adding life to years' and 'leaving no one behind', so as to provide older persons living with dementia with opportunities to participate in learning activities.

Education is deemed to be a human right, irrespective of age and cognitive ability. Learning programmes are specifically tailored for the needs and abilities of older persons living with dementia, and will range from 'Creative connections for older persons living with dementia: A Montessori approach' to 'Mind, body and soul engagements in dementia care'.
