The Centre for the Study & Practice of Conflict Resolution organized a 2-day networking seminar under the auspices of the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Chair for Peace at the University of Malta, in collaboration with the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Conflict Resolution at George Mason University in the US.
A number of delegates attended the event with expertise ranging from international law, history teaching, social psychology, political science, conflict resolution, and other related fields. The seminar also included Ukrainian delegates presently based in European higher education institutions after fleeing war. Various topics regarding the short and long-term aspirations for Ukraine were discussed including migration and repatriation, transnational security, militarization and aid, education and democracy, and the postwar reconstruction and reconciliation aftermath.
Delegates discussed funding proposals in light of prior research and practice in various contact zones around the world including Balkan countries and other Eastern European nations. The seminar aimed at identifying funding actions that could generate an evidence base to implement effective policy and practice when a cessation of hostilities in Ukraine ensues. Proposals for funding actions will be published by the Centre in associationwith its affiliate network in due course, in an effort to catalyse a peacebuilding research agenda in Europe.
