The BioGeMT project organised a Genomics Hackathon at the University of Malta in which participants competed together in groups or solo to create a Machine Learning model that could classify miRNA binding site interactions. The participants had just half a day to create and submit their machine learning models, pushing their skills and creativity to the limit.
Throughout the Hackathon, the participants had the chance to network, build connections and share ideas, increasing collegiality between participants and enhancing the spirit of collaboration!
We are thrilled to announce that Katarína Grešová emerged as the winner as her model outperformed the other models submitted, earning her a well-deserved smart watch. Congratulations Katarína!
For those interested in exploring the genomic datasets used, you can find everything on GitHub. Feel free to train your own Machine Learning model and send it to us by email.
