On the initiative of the Office of the Pro-Rector for Strategic Planning and Sustainability, Prof. Valerie Sollars, a new series of programmes will be broadcast on the University radio, Campus 103.7, entitled Sostenibbilità: Riċerka u Esperjenzi Lokali.
Hosted by Prof. Paul Pace from the Centre for Environmental Education & Research, together with Dr Jane Spiteri, one of UM’s Sustainability Champions and a full-time resident academic at the Faculty of Education, these programmes seek to inform the general public about current and on-going research focused on sustainability matters and being undertaken by various academic members of staff, research support officers and PhD students.
Apart from being informative and providing insightful conversations about how sustainability and sustainable practices impact our lives daily, these programmes are in line with the UM Strategic Plan 2020-2025, in particular Theme 3 which focuses on Societal Factors and Impact, Theme 7, which focuses specifically on Sustainability, in particular the aspect of training and research and Theme 5, the National Impact, which makes reference to transforming learners to highly competent and effective citizens.
The programmes will be aired on Thursday afternoons, between 14:00 and 15:00, with a repeat later in the evening, at 21:00. The first programme is scheduled for 3 April 2025.
