Esplora, in partnership with the Arts Council Malta, and the British Council, and in collaboration with the University of Malta and the Malta Chamber of Scientists are bringing back FameLab. FameLab, is an International Science Communication competition. This competition calls for all science enthusiasts who are keen on sharing their knowledge and would like to talk science!
FameLab is a global communications competition that calls for scientists, mathematicians and engineers. It gives an opportunity to science enthusiasts to share their knowledge and engage the public in the most effective ways. In simply 3 minutes, each participant presents a concept on any topic of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. They will be judged by a professional panel of judges made up of local researchers, media personalities, and journalists on content, clarity and also charisma. The participants will need to audition for the competition and the chosen candidates (semi-finalists) will attend a 2-day Masterclass, where a professional science communicator from the UK will give them training in science communication and public engagement. The winner will be chosen in the national final, and s/he will represent Malta in FameLab international in which over 25 countries participate in the final competition which is held in Cheltenham, UK, during the Cheltenham Science festival in June.
An information session about FameLab will be held on Thursday 17 November 2016, at the KSU Tipico Careers Common Room, from 18:00 to 20:00.
