Scientists from all research disciplines and sectors are invited for participation in the 7th annual Science in the House exhibition. Science in the House is the official opening event of the prestigious science festival Science in the City, European Researchers’ Night. The theme this year is: 'Science is Culture'. The exhibition is scheduled for the morning of Thursday 27 September. The format is a media forum showcasing the latest exciting scientific research at the University of Malta, and elsewhere in Malta, for discussion with Members of Parliament. The event will be held in the New Parliament Building in Valletta.
Submission of applications is now open. The one-page application form is available online. The deadline for submission is 22 June 2018.
Application forms are to be written in language understandable to a non-specialist. Participation is subject to peer-review. The evaluation panel will consider the quality of the application, research excellence based on high-impact journal publications and grant awards, training of junior researchers, and social and economic impact of the research. Early-stage researchers are highly encouraged to apply. Preference will be extended to first-time participants should they meet the peer-review requirements. The submitted content will be incorporated into a media exhibition in consultation between the applicants and a scientific editorial committee. However, the senior editor has the final decision on the portrayal of the content.
Participants are to contribute a scientific paper for submission to Xjenza Online to be published in the December 2018 issue.
The event is part-financed by the Framework Program of the European Commission (Horizon 2020), the Malta Chamber of Scientists and the Research Trust (RIDT) of the University of Malta. The event is hosted by the Hon. Dr. Anġlu Farrugia, The Speaker of the House of Representatives.
