This session will be delivered by the President of the University of Malta Academic Staff Association (UMASA) and is targeted for newly recruited academics. UMASA was founded on 23 January 2001 and on 5 May 2004 UMASA was officially registered as a trade union. Right from the very beginning, UMASA has striven to promote the professional development and interests of the academic staff at the University of Malta the development of quality education, independence of thought and academic freedom.
The session will cover the salient points of the Collective Agreement for Academic Staff of the University of Malta and the Manual of Conduct and Procedures. Furthermore the President will give a brief overview of UMASA and their philosophy on what they believe is the role of an academic within the University community and the Maltese society.
The last Collective Agreement covers the period from January 2019 to December 2023. A copy of the current Collective Agreement may be downloaded from the Office for Human Resources Management & Development website.
