All of us depend on the financial system in one way or another. Savers rely on banks to have their money made available when they need it, businesses need funds to develop and maintain their businesses, consumers taking out a home loan need to get financial advice on what the best product for them is, and insurance policy holders rely on getting their claims paid when something doesn’t go according to plan.
If you already have some experience in the financial industry and would like to advance in that regard, or if you’d like to start a career in regulation and compliance within the banking industry, we are happy to announce that the Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Regulation and Compliance with the University of Malta, is now open for applications.
Developed in collaboration with the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), this PG Diploma mirrors a commitment in the advancement of the standards of financial regulation and compliance education in Malta.
Programme Overview:
Within the span of two years, and in eight study-units, you will gain comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in critical areas such as risk management, compliance management, report writing, Governance and Audit Management, Sustainable Finance Regulation, Digital Finance Regulation, Business Ethics and the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism. Real-world applications and case studies will be used to focus on each topic, and a hands-on approach will give the graduates a better chance to tackle the challenges of the financial services industry effectively.
Capacity Building and Professional Development
By introducing this Diploma, we are moving a crucial step forward towards building more capacity within Malta’s financial services sector. This structured pathway for professionals, which is in line with industry demands, supports both MFSA’s strategic priorities and the University’s commitment to bridge skills with the labour market. It also aligns with goals set by regulatory bodies such as the ECB, EBA, and ESMA, which emphasise continuous professional development and robust regulatory frameworks.
Opportunities for Young Professionals
This programme will help you become a valuable asset to potential employers, or get that promotion you deserve. How? It will give you a competitive edge in the job market, and will expand your educational background with specialised knowledge.
