The Office for Human Resources Management & Development and the Office for Professional Academic Development will be offering the following workshop:
Trainers: Dr Nathalie Buhagiar and Ms Ramona Vella Vidal
Target audience: All staff
Duration of workshop: 3 hours
Date: Wednesday 27 November
Time: 09:00 - 12:00
Mode: Class-based
Hosted by: ACCESS – Disability Support Unit (ADSU) & Department of Occupational Therapy (Faculty of Health Sciences)
This workshop is designed to raise awareness and equip staff with a basic understanding of how the nervous system works from a sensory processing perspective. Participants will learn about the function and importance of each sensory system - sight, hearing, movement, proprioception, touch, taste, and smell - as a foundation for learning and participation in daily life. This engaging workshop provides participants with practical, active strategies to support self-regulation, particularly in achieving a calm, alert state. This state is essential for carrying out one's daily routine and occupations while maintaining positive mental and physical health.
All staff are encouraged to regularly consult the training schedule for information on forthcoming workshops and sessions.
