Maquette of Oliver Friggieri donated to the University Library
A maquette of the late scholar of Maltese literature and language Prof. Oliver Friggieri was donated to the Melitensia collection. This maquette, a shortlisted proposal for the competition issued by Heritage Malta for the national monument in honour of Prof. Oliver Friggieri, was donated by the design team led by Prof. Lino Bianco, currently a Prof. at the Pontifical Gregorian University, and included Chev. Antonio Mifsud, a sculptor versed in human anatomy, Kim Farrugia and Alessandra Bianco.
The design concept underlying this proposal is available on the online access institutional repository of the UM Library online.
Branch Libraries
Donation of books from the family of the late Dr. Pauline Dimech at the Laws and Theology Library.
Dr Dimech was a University of Malta lecturer at the Faculty of Theology. It was her wish that the books should be donated to the library so that students and members of the academic body may make use of the collection. These books cover a wide range of subjects, including Theology and Philosophy, with several authored by the renowned Hans Urs von Balthasar.
What's new in Melitensia
Melitensia's Resource of the month – April 2024
Politics in the Gospel written by CharlĂł Camilleri and published by Horizons.
This book presents a refreshing approach to biblical interpretation, offering readers a fresh theological perspective. It engages readers in discussions on contemporary social and political issues that intersect with ecclesiastical thought. Each chapter, originally featured in the Sunday Times of Malta, serves as a reflection aimed at exploring the biblical narratives and stimulating thought and connection in a world often divided by politics. With insightful commentary and thought-provoking questions, this book is an essential read for theologians, scholars, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the intersections between faith, politics, and society.
The list of new Melitensia acquisitions is available online.
