This year marks a significant milestone for UM as we celebrate 10 years of OAR@UM, the University’s Open Access Repository. Managed by the UM Library, this repository has become a vital resource for scholars, researchers, and the public, hosting over 114,000 items, including peer-reviewed articles, theses, and more.
Open Access is crucial for breaking down barriers to knowledge, making research freely accessible to all. OAR@UM also plays a key role in preserving Maltese academic and cultural heritage, serving as a unique resource for the island.
To commemorate this milestone, THINK Magazine published a special article highlighting OAR@UM's journey and impact.
Additionally, we released a video featuring testimonials from Pro-Rector Prof. Valerie Sollars and other members of the academic staff, celebrating OAR@UM’s 10 years of success. Their insights showcase the transformative impact of Open Access on research visibility and collaboration.
From academic articles to special collections, OAR@UM continues to highlight Malta's rich academic and cultural heritage. Here's to another decade of barrier-free research and open knowledge!
