The University has joined the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation’s Spare A Bag Appeal, in order to contribute to their goal of collecting 5,000 reusable bags containing food supplies for local families.
Groceries are provided weekly for around 350 families every week across Malta and Gozo. To efficiently distribute these food packs, sturdy reusable bags that can be returned and reused, are needed.
3 bags are required for each family, which amounts to 1,050 bags in circulation at any one time. Although these bags are taken care of, they eventually wear out, get damaged or are not returned.
Replacing these bags costs 50c each and every bag donated allows the Foundation to direct more of their funds towards purchasing essential food supplies for those in need.
A contribution box for the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation has been placed in the Main Foyer of the Maths and Physics Building (look up MP on our campus map).
Donate a bag, support these families!
