Learning outcomes
- Competence in a range of methods, approaches and investigative techniques appropriate to the study of performance and dance study, and application of these, selectively and progressively, in in-depth essays, presentations and lecture-demonstrations
- Techniques, creative strategies, choreographic processes and crafting skills to a high level in individual and group practice, both informal and formal (workshops, performances, etc)
- Essential key skills including communication, presentation, group interactive, problem-solving and IT skills and the ability to plan, manage and appraise their own practical and written work
- Knowledge and understanding of applications for technology to dance creation, collaboration, performance, documentation
- The ability to examine and appraise dance pedagogical and performance theories and apply these selectively in individual written and practical assignments
- The ability to classify, analyse and interpret selected forms, languages and structures of dance performance, and to utilise these in integrated practical/theoretical projects
- Independent study, self-reflection, critical capacity and application in the chosen field of dance studies
Career opportunities
- Working within the sector of Dance theatre and performance as practitioner, choreographer, performer or facilitator
