Through practical and theoretical approaches informed by interdisciplinary and emerging methodologies related to them, Culture and Performance (CaP) intends to deal with issues such as:

  • cultural governance and performance
  • cultural industries
  • cultures of consumption and everyday life
  • the relationships between cultural, performance, and critical theories
  • globalisation as a cultural phenomenon
  • popular cultures and performance
  • interdisciplinary performance practices and cultural diversitye
  • ethnomusicology as cultural and performance phenomenon
  • culture, performance, and the public sphere
  • cultural policy and performance
  • migration, mobilities, borders and their impact on changing performance cultures.


As a multidisciplinary research group, CaP seeks collaboration with artists and practitioners operating in different artistic fields including dance, music, theatre, visual arts, film, photography, creative writing and others – and scholars specialising in performance-related studies, cultural studies, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, political sciences, digital media and IT, and international relations. CaP is also interested in the relationship between performance, culture, and scientific research and encourages collaborations with scholars and practitioners involved in the field of science to contribute to its research agenda.
