1. A Platform for Migration is being set up in collaboration with members from several departments in a number of Faculties, Institutes, Centres and Schools, as an initiative by the Faculty for Social Wellbeing.
   
   
2. The aims of the platform are the following:
   (a) to promote research related to migration
   (b) to promote synergies, dialogue and training initiatives between University entities in migration-related matters at the University
   (c) to conduct research in migration in several projects and experiments, through collaboration with local and international entities and also in conjunction with associated universities and research institutes
   (d) to publish a Mediterranean focused peer-reviewed academic journal which focuses on the topic of migration
   (e) to create and maintain an electronic portal for the publication, discussion and dissemination of knowledge in the area of migration, and
   (f) to raise public awareness regarding migration-related research through public talks and seminars.
   
   
3. The platform shall have the following structure:
   (a) a Board consisting of the Co-ordinator and nine other members,  and up to two student representatives, appointed by Senate on the recommendation of the Rector, after consultation with the Pro-Rector responsible for Research and Knowledge Transfer
   (b) the Chairperson shall be appointed by Senate, on the recommendation of the Rector chosen from amongst the members of the Board; and
   (c) the appointment of the Chairperson, Co-ordinator and the members of the Board shall be for two years, which can be renewed.
   
   
4. The platform will operate as a cost centre, subject to the University’s financial regulations.
