Amy Colman is a Lecturer in the Department of Translation, Terminology and Interpreting Studies, where she coordinates the Interpreting programme. She redesigned the Interpreting programme at the University of Malta in 2024 and launched three DegreePlus courses: Dutch for Beginners I & II, and Introduction to Interpreting.
She holds a BA in Translation and an MA in Interpreting from Vlekho – Hogeschool voor Wetenschap & Kunst in Brussels (now KU Leuven), and a PhD in Translation Studies from KU Leuven. Her research focuses on directionality and translation evaluation in translator training.
Amy was raised trilingually (English, Dutch and Italian) in Belgium. She moved to Malta in 2006, where she worked as a professional translator, proofreader, editor and copywriter for 18 years. She has active command of English, Dutch and Italian, and passive command of French and Maltese.
