Mr Antoine Gatt graduated with first class honours as a landscape architect from the University of Gloucestershire in the UK and employed as a Research Support Officer II with the Faculty for the Built Environment. Since 2013 he has been researching green roofs for their benefits in rendering urban spaces more liveable and sustainable. For four years he managed the LifeMedGreenRoof project, an EU funded project, with the aim of understanding the potential of green roofs in the local scene and pushed towards the introduction of such a technology. The project was also responsible for the drafting of the Green roof standard for Malta (SM3700.2017 'Green roofs - Criteria for the planning, construction, control and maintenance of Green Roofs') published by MCCAA. He lectures on landscape architecture issues, green infrastructure and ecosystem services and is currently reading for a Doctorate degree in green roof performance. Apart from green roofs, his interests also lie in sustainable urban design, green infrastructure, and ecosystem services. He is the author of a number of articles on green roofs and green infrastructure.
