Mr Edward Mifsud joined the University of Malta in September 2009 and currently holds the post of Junior College Lecturer in the department of Biology. He lectures A-level Biology and is also laboratory tutor. Mr Mifsud also leads two practical units in the Faculty of Education in the Primary Education department.

Mr Mifsud studied Chemistry and Biology at undergraduate level and obtained a B.Sc in 1994. Following a period of employment in industry, he returned to his studies at UOM and obtained a PGCE in 1997 after which he started his teaching career at a Chemistry teacher. In 2002, Mr Mifsud obtained an M.Sc in Agricultural Sciences and the diploma in Educational Administration and Management (DEAM) in 2007. Mr Mifsud is currently concluding his PhD at the Institute of Education at the University of London, his thesis is on Biological learning of primary students in museum settings.

Mr Mifsud has been a science educator for 15 years. He started his career as a Chemistry teacher at the Liceo in Hamrun where he taught for four years. In 2001, he moved to Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary in Naxxar where he taught O-level, Intermediate and A-level Biology for 8 years. He was also head of Biology department there and was member of the school council for 4 years. He was directly involved in the setting up of the new laboratories and the consolidation of the Biology department, which is today one of the largest at the school.

Mr Mifsud also sat on the MATSEC A-level Biology syllabus boards for 2008-2010 and 2011-2013.
