Emma Jayne Spiteri is a dedicated bioinformatician currently involved in the Target MI Project where she focuses on developing high-throughput strategies to analyze multi-omic data and other datasets to identify drug targets for myocardial infarction (MI).
She is also currently pursuing a Ph.D. with a focus on multi-omics approaches in the study of pituitary neuroendocrine tumours (PitNETs), specializing in transcriptomics and proteomics. Her research aims to uncover novel insights into tumour heterogeneity through the analysis of gene expression profiles and cellular populations.
Emma holds a B.Sc. in Biology and Chemistry and an M.Sc. in Applied Biomedical Sciences. During her M.Sc, she became passionate about bioinformatics, particularly in bulk RNA-sequencing and candidate gene prioritization.
In addition to her research, Emma Jayne is a Youth Ambassador for Cancer Prevention with the European Cancer Leagues, where she contributes to the 'Education in Schools' working group. She is also a certified Mental Health First Aider through the Richmond Foundation, advocating for mental health awareness.
