John joined the University in 2003 as lab officer III in the biology department, where he spent 10 years. He saw the overall running of the department, supporting the head in planning practicals, overseeing and making general orders, supervising the practical sessions, and assisting students and academics alike in their fieldwork.
After ten months of working abroad, he returned to be reinstated with the Institute of Earth Systems, where he held the position of Senior Lab officer.
After two years, he was assigned to the Facilities management unit, where his main responsibility is managing the beadles, amongst other duties the section supervises.
After eight years at the facilities management unit, where the central part of his duties was managing the Beadles operations and supporting the internal operations in the office, a change in his career took him to a position within the faculty of Economy, management, and Administration.
John Camilleri is well-versed in industrial and technical fields and is strengthening his management skills by following business, marketing and economics courses.
