Kevin Schembri is a senior lecturer in canon law and pastoral praxis at the University of Malta and a visiting lecturer at the Pontifical Oriental Institute within the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He also serves as a member of the University of Malta Senate.
Schembri studied philosophy and theology (SThB, SThL) at the University of Malta and graduated with a doctorate summa cum laude in canon law and jurisprudence (JCL, JCD, PG Dip Juris) from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. His monograph 'Oikonomia, Divorce and Remarriage in the Eastern Orthodox Tradition' was awarded the Emerging Scholar Book Prize of the European Society for Catholic Theology.
Schembri also serves as promoter of justice and defender of the bond at the Maltese Metropolitan Tribunal, and a member of the editorial board of KU Leuven-based refereed journal 'Marriage, Family & Spirituality'. He is often invited to direct retreats and workshops in various areas of pastoral ministry.
