Michelle Camilleri is a senior lecturer at the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences. She holds degrees of Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Nursing Studies (Malta) awarded by the University of Malta, Masters of Science in Advanced Nursing Practice awarded by the University of Nottingham UK and a Masters in Education (Adult Education) awarded by Massey University, New Zealand. In 2009 she obtained a degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)from the University of Surrey, UK for research into the learning process of becoming a nurse. Recently, in 2023, she completed a Masters in Counselling at the University of Malta.
Her research interests are primarily concerned with practice development, processes of learning in practice and competence development.
Since her appointment in 2001, Michelle has taught on undergraduate, postgraduate and continuous professional development programmes. Michelle has been involved in various innovation projects, with the most recent being the new continuous assessment system for practical study units for pre-registration nursing programmes which commenced in 2006.
Michelle is now placement coordinator of BSc (Hons) in Nursing.
Michelle is a state registered nurse with the Council for Nurses and Midwives in Malta as well as the Nurses and Midwives Council in The United Kingdom. Her area of practice is primarily emergency nursing.
