Ms Michelle Cassar has been a staff member of the Institute of Earth Systems since its inception in 2010, having previously held the same post within the International Environment Institute. She holds an M.Sc. in Biology and a B.Sc. in Biology & Chemistry, both from the University of Malta, and has several years' experience in the organization of short training courses, workshops and conferences, and in proposal-writing and co-ordination of EU-funded projects. She also provided editing input to a number of publications including a special issue of the Journal of Coastal Conservation (guest editor of issue 1 of Volume 9, 2003), the Proceedings of ICoD's 2006 Second International Conference on the Management of Coastal Recreational Resources (MCRR2), and a guidebook to selected beaches in Malta and Sicily published simultaneously in English, Italian and Maltese in 2008.
Ms Cassar holds the post of Senior Administrator within the Institute of Earth Systems. In addition to her input to the general administration of the IES, she is responsible for developing and maintaining the Institute's webpages.
