Steve Agius works as Chief Executive Officer with Identita’, the agency responsible for citizens’ identity management and the implementation of migration processes.
Prior to this role, he worked as a Chief Operating Officer at Mater Dei Hospital and was responsible for the roll-out of the national COVID-19 vaccination programme.
Steve also worked as Chief Information and Development with the Malta Communications Authority, the national regulatory authority of the communications sector in Malta where he coordinated a number of national initiatives aimed at supporting social cohesion and eInclusion.
Steve is also a Senior Visiting Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy at the University of Malta. He currently lectures Social Media Strategy in the BCom program and has developed and lectures a module on Big Data Analytics for the MSc Strategic Management and Marketing degree program.
In his role as Project Manager, Steve led numerous large scale projects both locally and abroad in the areas of Strategic Information Management (ERP, Billing, Order to Cash, Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing), networking infrastructure, business transformation and process modelling.
Steve gained a first-class computing degree from the University of Greenwich (UK) followed by an MBA with Distinction in e-Business. Steve is currently researching big data, social media analytics, sentiment analysis, and business intelligence and has created SentimentMe, a sentiment analysis web service that harvests data in real-time. He is currently pursuing a PhD in the use of data in strategic decision-making with the University of Malta in conjunction with Liverpool John Moores University.
