Science and the City is a festival held every year in Malta’s capital city Valletta, for the dissemination and promotion of arts and science to the general public, funded by the European Union. Adrian Francalanza, from the University of Malta, participated in the STEM section of the festival and presented a talk titled “The API Economy: Past, Present and Future” on how Application Programming Interfaces have democratized software production and lowered barriers to entry in many fields of the economy, from financial services, healthcare provision, and the hospitality industry.
