Organised Convened Sessions

Members of COST Action MyWAVE are continuously engaging themselves in international conferences to disseminate results and engage with different stakeholders.

A number of convened sessions were successfully organised by COST Action members and these include:

  • UPCOMING sessions for the AT-AP-RASC 2022.
    • K08 : Dielectric spectroscopy and the dielectric properties of biological matter, from molecules to tissues – supported by COST MyWAVE – (E. Porter, K. Grenier); Session Description: This session will cover dielectric measurement techniques for all forms of biological matter, from molecules to cells to tissues. Papers discussing any aspect of the measurement process are welcome, including but not limited to the design, testing, or application of dielectric measurement techniques; the study of noise, uncertainties, and errors; related confounders; post-processing, analysis and interpretation. Studies reporting the dielectric properties of biological materials are also welcome.
    • K09 : Developments on experimental and numerical phantoms for electromagnetic biomedical applications – supported by COST MyWAVE (L. Farrugia, S. Di Meo); Session Description: This session will focus on recent developments in the realization of experimental tissue-mimicking phantoms and numerical phantoms required for simulations. Both phantoms are instrumental for the development and testing of new diagnostic and therapeutic devices exploiting electromagnetic fields. Numerical or experimental solutions have been proposed for the realization of phantoms of different anatomical regions and this convened session is to provide a general overview of the state of the art of the main achievements in this area, as well as to encourage the comparison between researchers who have been working on the topic for many years.
    • K10 : Therapeutic Applications from static to microwave EMF –  supported by COST MyWAVE  (L. Farrugia, M. Liberti). Session Description: This session will focus on therapeutic technologies using  electromagnetic (EM) fields, from static to microwaves (MWs). At static and low frequency Electric and magnetic fields, stimulation of the nervous system occurs, with a few technologies already implimented in clinical practice, however optimization, mechanisms refinment and exploitation are still desiderable. Additionally, there is a pletora of innovative ones, to be explored and targeting the full range of nervous system deseases in an electroceutical perspective. This session will also cover high frequency applications such as Microwave hyperthermia and ablation. EM Hyperthermic technologies, utilizing thermal response of tissues when irradiated by EMF hold a great potential for the treatment of various diseases. In this session advancements in the design, development, and verification testing by both computational and experimental approaches for a wide range of clinical conditions will be discussed. This session covers these topics, but also welcomes other applications of electromagnetic fields, including therapeutic planning.
