The 8th European Medical and Biological Engineering Conference (EMBEC), to be held in Portorož, Slovenia (29 Nov-3 Dec, 2020), was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the conference, MyWAVE members (Emily Porter and Adam Santorelli) had organized a convened session called “Electromagnetic-based thermal medical therapies, monitoring and imaging (MyWAVE COST Action).” While the session was cancelled along with the conference, the submitted papers and abstracts have been published and are available here: https://www.embec2020.org/publications/
The papers published were the following:
Evaluation of Thermal Properties of Ex Vivo Kidney up to Ablative Temperatures by Nuno P. Silva, Anna Bottiglieri, Emily Porter , Martin O’Halloran, Laura Farina
Use of Histology in Interpreting Dielectric Measurements of Heterogeneous Tissues: Challenges and Limitations by Emily Porter
Effective Models for Microwave Antennas in Thermal Ablation by Zoi Tokoutsi, Marco Baragona
Development of a nanocomposites based anthropometric phantom to evaluate thermal effect induced by radiofrequency electromedical systems by Patrizia Lamberti, Antonella Di Ruocco, Luca Melillo, Vincenzo Tucci, Vladimir Georgiev, Rumiana Kotsilkova
Biomedical application of Fe-Mn Oxide Nanoparticles by Paolo Sgarbossa, Maria Rosaria Ruggiero, Simonetta Geninatti Crich, Michele Forzan, Roberta Bertani, Mirto Mozzon, Elisabetta Sieni
