The UM academic year commences every October but you can apply online from the previous November for your preferred course. Another intake, on a smaller scale, is held in February.
The majority of Master's degrees by Research and all Doctoral Degrees (except for the Doctorate of Pharmacy degree) have more than one entry point. Prospective applicants can apply at any time during the year. As part of the application process, applicants are required to submit a research proposal.
February 2025 Intake
The deadline for courses commencing in February 2025 is 31 January 2025 at 14:00.
October 2025 Intake
The deadline for courses commencing in October 2025 is 23 July 2025 at 14:00.
Doctor of Medicine and Surgery: The closing date for receipt of applications from applicants presenting overseas qualifications and degrees awarded by institutions other than the University of Malta is 31 January 2025 at 14:00. Certificates from UK examining boards are considered overseas qualifications.
Non-EU applicants
The deadline for Non-EU applicants applying for courses commencing in October 2025, and requiring a visa to travel to Malta, is 1 July 2025 at 14:00. Applications received following this deadline will be deferred to the next available intake.
