Submission guidelines

Author guidelines

To be considered for publication, submissions should meet the following criteria:

  1. Fit within the journal’s scope, i.e., deals with an issue that is of social-scientific interest
  2. For papers reporting empirical research, the study aims and objectives/ research questions need to be clearly specified
  3. Be sound in its methodology and analysis
  4. Be presented in a clear and logical manner
  5. Not be previously published, nor being considered for publication elsewhere
  6. Written in English

Article types

Original research, commentaries, book reviews and photo essays, including material based on dissertation work.

Stylistic guidelines

  • Title page including title of manuscript, name and affiliation of author(s), email address of corresponding author, and word count
  • Accompanied by an unstructured abstract (maximum 250 words), with 3 to 5 keywords
  • Double line spacing, 12pt Times New Roman/ Calibri/ Arial font
  • Between 3000-6000 words, excluding tables, notes and references (to be used as guideline only)
  • Reference and citation styles should be in accordance with APA 7th edition style
  • Images should be in high resolution (300 - 600 dpi) and be covered by permissions to use
  • Written in British English
  • In MS word (.docx) format. Submissions in pdf format will not be accepted.

All manuscripts which do not conform to the above guidance will be returned to the author for revising prior to the peer-review process.

Peer review policy

Submitted manuscripts will be subjected to an initial editor screening. If successful, the manuscript will undergo a single-blind peer reviewer, where reviewers know the identity of the author(s), but author(s) do not know the identity of reviewers.

If you are invited to revise your manuscript after peer review, please include: (a) edits in track changes, and b) an accompanying table explaining where and how each of the reviewers’ comments have been addressed.
