Do you come from Trinidad and Tobago and have this certificate?

  • Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE)

In order to be considered for admission and to satisfy the University’s General Entry Requirements you need to present:

(a)   the CAPE with three subjects at 2-unit level with at least Grade II or better (where I is the highest and VII is the lowest). The certificate must include good passes in a language (excluding English), a humanistic subject, and a science subject (preferably Mathematics) in the final year of studies. If not presented in the final year of studies, good passes in a language (excluding English) and Mathematics may be accepted from the penultimate year; and

(b)   a valid Secure English Language Test (SELT) to satisfy the University’s English Language Requirements. Access more information in this regard.

OR

(c) a final year grade of III or better in English in CAPE which can be accepted in lieu of the English test.

When choosing courses / areas of study having Special Course Requirements (except for the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, the Master of Dental Surgery and courses accepting a limited number of students*), said requirements will be satisfied if you present final State Examination passes with a grade of II or better in the subjects stipulated as Special Course Requirements, except for English language.

*Applicants wishing to join the courses leading to the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, the Master of Dental Surgery, and courses accepting a limited number of students, must separately present passes in the applicable Special Course Requirements from the MATSEC Board, or comparable Boards, at the level and grade or comparable, as stipulated in the respective course regulations or bye-laws.
