Title: | A piano recital |
Authors: | Galea, Marisa |
Keywords: | Piano -- Methods Sonatas (Harpsichord) Performance practice (Music) |
Issue Date: | 2015 |
Abstract: | The aim of this dissertation is to provide my personal holistic approach for studying these works in preparation for my piano recital. In addition to historical, analytical and performance practice aspects, I will also focus on certain concepts of piano technique and interpretational challenges specific to the repertoire under discussion, and provide an insight into certain practice strategies which I have devised and implemented in order to enhance my performance of these works. The selection of repertoire for my piano recital encompasses five works from different eras, thus revealing an exceptional development in compositional styles and a wide spectrum of keyboard techniques. The programme, which will be presented and performed in chronological order, incorporates three keyboard sonatas by Scarlatti, Haydn's last piano sonata, two Impromptus by Schubert, Schumann's Papillons, and Bartók's 6 Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm. |
