Abstract: Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA), 4,4′-(2,3-Dimethylbutane-1,4-diyl)dibenzene- 1,2-diol, is a phenolic lignan and a lipoxygenase inhibitor (Gowri et al., 2000). It is a greyish-white crystalline solid in appearance (Perry et al., 1972). It has a melting in the range of 184–185°C; it is freely soluble both in ether and ethanol, in propylene glycol at a temperature of 116°C and slightly soluble in hot water (Madhavi et al., 1995).
