Abstract: Jane Thompson is a key figure in the radical debate on adult education and popular education in Britain. A prolific writer in the field and social activist, she has made an important contribution to socialist feminist politics over the years through her work at such institutions as the University of Southampton, Ruskin College and , more recently , the National Institute for Adult Continuing Education and Warwick University . In this interview she addresses some of the challenges faced by popular educators , socialism and most importantly radical feminism , with special reference to the situation in Britain . She also discusses Neoliberalism and its onslaught on public life and the bearing it has had on once vibrant social movements.
