Abstract: | The notion of threshold concepts, once grasped, refers to any discipline that has a transformative effect on student learning. These concepts act like conceptual gateways or portals, opening up a new and previously inaccessible way of thinking. Academics in a number of disciplines are using the idea of threshold concepts to inform their pedagogy in ways that make sense within their own communities of practice and with their own students; threshold concepts have found an immediate appeal and are a pedagogically fertile topic to consider. |
