Abstract: | A heated debate where several solutions were proposed for improved public transport, including more investment in buses, routes, real-time apps, joined up governance, road-works planning, school transport, transport of public sector employees, residents' parking, multi-modal roads, pavements, bus lanes, etc. The main bone of contention was whether to penalize car use. Dr Briguglio makes the point that without the stick, Malta will continue to spend millions (of tax money) on carrots, without making the necessary dent. With 45 new cars on the road per day, alternative means of transport cannot function. |
