Abstract: | Consist of MALT A, Gozo, COMINO and COMINOTTO. Of this group Malta ( r) is the principal. This famous Island, the watch tower of the Mediterranean, measures 20 miles in length, 12 miles in breadth and has an area of 98 sq. miles. The nearest lands to Malta are Sicily and Africa. Malta is distant from Sicily some 50 miles, and from Africa 179 miles. [Excerpt] |
