Abstract: The novel virus causing the Covid-19 pandemic was first identified in the city of Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The spread of the virus was so rapid that by 30 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared this outbreak a health concern on an international level and a pandemic by 11 March of the same year. The gravity of the pandemic led national leaders across the globe to legislate in favour of unprecedented measures aimed at controlling the spread and mitigating the severe stress on national health systems.
