Inizialmente doveva andare in scena al Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, ma la storia di un marito che uccide il presunto rivale, il re di Svezia, fu considerata oltraggiosa dalla censura borbonica. Verdi introdusse perciò alcune modifiche, trasformando il re in un governatore e spostando l'azione da Stoccolma a Boston. | en_GB |
