dc.description.abstractPer salvare la vita al padre, Carlo ha accettato di diventare uno scagnozzo e di servire il governo di Venezia. Quando gli viene ordinato di uccidere Teodora, scopre che quest'ultima è la sua ex moglie: ha cercato di ucciderla perché pensava (erroneamente) che lei lo avesse tradito. Foscari, patrizio, era innamorato di Teodora, e ora ama sua figlia Violetta, ma quest'ultima è innamorata di Pisani, patrizio esule. Gli amanti riescono a scappare, mentre Teodora si uccide nella speranza di salvare la vita al padre di Carlo. Carlo, però, scopre che suo padre è già morto.en_GB
