| Abstract: | The Minstrel (Il menestrello) is a jocose melodrama in three acts of Serafino Amadeo De-Ferrari composed on the pamphlet written by Raffaello Berninzone. Its first rapresentation was on the 17 april 1859 at Andrea Doria Theatre in Genova. The main characters of this opera are The Marchioness of Montalto, Ernesto count of Valmora, Luisa who is secretly betrothed to Ernesto, Genariello the Minstrel, D. Eustacchio - an intendant of the Marchioness, Beppo who is a Publican and a servant who does not speak. The scene is set in the Marquise's fiefdom, in the south of Italy around the year 1600. |
