dc.description.abstractWerther è un'opera lirica in quattro atti di Jules Massenet su libretto francese di Édouard Blau, Paul Milliet e Georges Hartmann. È vagamente basato sul romanzo epistolare di Goethe "I dolori del giovane Werther", che era basato sia sui fatti che sui primi anni di vita di Goethe. Werther ebbe la sua prima rappresentazione il 16 febbraio 1892 (in una versione tedesca tradotta da Max Kalbeck) al Teatro Imperiale Hofoper di Vienna.en_GB
