Abstract: Following the introduction of print portfolios for teacher development in the ELT sector in Malta, this article discusses the findings of a small-scale study that highlighted teachers’ views in relation to the possible future implementation of e-portfolios. It shows that while aware of the benefits of this tool, teachers have concerns about their own digital literacy and the threats to privacy posed by an e-portfolio’s accessibility. The article underscores the idea that teachers need to have ownership of their professional development, by being able to decide for themselves whether they want to switch from the print to the electronic version of the portfolio.
