Abstract: Teatru Astra presents the programme of the 4-act tragic opera "Aida", written by Antonio Ghislanzoni, with music composed by Giuseppe Verdi, and directed by Joseph Bascietta, with musical direction from Joseph Vella. The production featured the Astra Theatre Opera Chorus (instructed by Maria Frendo), the Tanya Bayona Princess Poutiatine Academy of Ballet (directed by Tanya Bayona), the MillRoom Studio (directed by Jeni Delicata Lynam), and the National Orchestra (led by Marcelline Agius). The performance was held on the 1st of May, 1999, at Teatru Astra, in Victoria, Gozo.
Description: Programme has water damage. Programme includes note with photo on the Astra Theatre, essay synopsis of each act of "Aida", essay on "Aida and the Inteluct[sic] Force of Destiny" written by Abraham Borg, anthology of criticism of the opera, lists of cast and crew, lists of Astra Theatre Chorus members, Tanya Bayona Princess Poutiatine Academy of Ballet members, Mill Room Studio members, additional cast group members and production crew, essays with photos on musical director Joseph Vella, director Joseph Bascetta, Chorus mistress Maria Frendo and main soprano Pamela Kucenic, notes with photos on singers Ivanka Ninova, Andrew William Smith, George Reid, Rumen Doicov, Bruno Ricci, Rosabelle Pavia and Arthur Micallef. short notes with photos on crew members Jeni Delicata Lynam, Tanya Bayona, Manuel Grima, George Farrugia and Joseph Cauchi, and list of acknowledgements.
