Abstract: | Given that 71% of the planet is covered in water, divers get to see far more than those who never wander beyond the surface. In visiting the submerged parts of the world, most often divers experience a sense of awe. The idea that diving is conducive to awe can be traced to Jacques Cousteau’s pronouncement that “The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” The awe that diving makes possible is caused by several elements and leads to various benefits. |
