Abstract: The dissertation can be considered as the first attempt at research carried out by the student-teachers in their honours course. The importance of the selection of a research area is comparable to the choice of supervisor (and advisor if appropriate) who will guide the student-teacher/ s throughout the approximately two years that are dedicated to the project. Student teachers are asked to keep an official Dissertation Progress Diary of their meetings with their supervisor that is submitted with their dissertation. The Dissertation Progress Diary includes: records of subjects discussed, advice given and the agenda for the next meeting as well as details of the date and duration of the meeting. The supervisor and student teacher sign for every meeting. [excerpt]
