Abstract: | Teamwork is vital for private language schools given that their employees most often have to collaborate together on a range of initiatives and projects. However, one of the main challenges that a school faces is that the different teams that are set up to complete these projects are sometimes characterised by a lack of effectiveness. The problem partially stems from leaders’ misunderstanding of the nature of teams and of how to engage in productive team building. Mullins and Christy (2016:272) point out that ‘Whereas all teams are, by definition, groups, it does not necessarily follow that all groups are teams’. |
