Abstract: | This chapter talks about the development of interest in the industrial past, particularly from a European perspective. It will then explore the value of industrial heritage and the arguments that need to be deployed in any case for support. A further issue that this chapter touches on is the relationship between sites and buildings, objects and people – and finally, something about the elements needed to help build a coherent strategy for the care, promotion and use of the industrial heritage. |
