Abstract: The aim of this dissertation is to review foreign and local documentation and resource packs developed to promote a healthy lifestyle whilst reducing obesity. These documents can help shed light on diverse strategies which can be implemented in a local scenario. The resource packs reviewed assisted the researcher in providing children with additional opportunities to learn about vegetables. Moreover, the researcher has designed and developed a resource pack with the aim of: increasing vegetable consumption, promote healthy eating and provide children with education on different vegetables. The resource pack is targeted at children in the Early Years sector who are still developing food preferences and building their knowledge on eating habits (Rasmussen et al., 2006). The resource pack was developed as an interactive tool for learning which included a lift-the-flap storybook and interactive flipcharts, which can be used in the classroom. Research on the effect of; illustrations, language, font and size, characters and interactive aspects, was conducted to assist the researcher in developing an effective resource pack for the early years.
