Recent research has found that the colour of sportswear has an effect on the final outcome of sports contexts. The objective of this study was to determine whether the colour of a goal keeper's outfit throughout a penalty shootout has an effect on the outcome of a penalty shootout. The research design used was a quantitative, experimental one. All participants used throughout this study were members of one of the local football clubs. A total of 40 male participants (average age 14.8 years) were used, while the total amount of penalties used throughout this experiment was 800. The data collected was analysed using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS). The results showed no significance between the colour of the outfit worn by the goal keeper and the total number of penalties scored throughout a penalty shootout. Also no significance was shown between the expected success rates across the four different colour conditions.en_GB
